This ladies side opening tortoiseshell card case features an engraved silver cartouche to the front. Inside is a concertina section for the cards and it is lined with blue satin. The edges of the opening surfaces are lined with ivory. It measures 106mm high, 76mm wide and 16mm thick. Two of the smaller pieces of shell from the ends have come off and been reglued. C1860

The front of this book shaped card case features a silver filligree mount on green watered silk in a silver frame. The spine is dark green velvet. The back is a solid piece of Mother-of -pearl in a silver frame. Inside is a compartment for cards and a notebook. The interior is lined in pink watered silk. The case is closed with an ivory mounted pencil. The first 3 pages of the notebook contains a list of music played at a function in 1846. It also contains a small folded almanac listing important dates in English. Also contained is a small folded list of saints days for 1845. This is in French. The silk in the front is badly discoloured and the knob from the top of the pencil is missing. It measures 102mm by 62mm.

This very plain card case is made from mahogany and features a swivel opening top. It is 106mm high, 68mm wide and 11mm thick. The only manufacturers mark is the word "Patented" situated in an oval on the lid. It has retained its original patina. C 1850.

It is silk lined and has a cardboard concertina for storage of the cards. There is a small stain on the back(16x6mm), a small crack to the front(visible in the photo to the bottom left) and a few very minor stains and scratches. Unfortunately the pencil has been lost. This Indian made slip top, slightly cushion shaped card case is decorated with Sadeli mosaic ware to the front and rear with the sides featuring mosaic roundels. The mosaic is inlaid into ivory which is glued onto a sandalwood carcass. It measures 104mm long, 81mm wide and 15mm thick. There is some loss of mosaic which can be seen in the photo to the top of the case. On the reverse there is some more loss but it is much smaller. C1840-80.

This Indian made slip top card case is decorated front and rear as well as along the edges with Sadeli ware mosaic patterns inlaid into ivory over a sandalwood carcass. It is 97mm long, 77mm wide and 12mm thick. It does have some very minor damage to a small area of mosaic. C1840-80.

The rear is decorated with the same pattern and the edges have mosaic roundels. It is 92mm long, 61mm wide and 14mm thick. It does have some minor damage to the inlay. C1840-80

There is also a small silver panel to the top to be engraved with the owners initials(it is currently blank). It measures 90mm long, 54mm wide and 9mm thick. It is in very good condition C 1850

This ornately engraved sterling silver calling card case was made in Birmingam in 1882. It is 99mm long and 71mm wide. It carries the monogram "MSA" and is in very good condition.

This ornately engraved ladies sterling silver card case measures 98mm by 67mm. It was made by George Unite, Birmingham in 1886 and features an inscription in the central shield-"Isabella Traill from the Chorus of the Worthing Sac. Har. Soc.in remembrance of many hours spent together in work & pleasure May 1888" It is in excellent condition.

This sterling silver ladies card case is engraved with foliate scrollwork surrounding a central panel engraved with the initials HC and measures 85mm by 47mm. It is in excellent condition and is hallmarked Birmingham 1914. The makers initials are S&B.

This very attractive sterling silver ladies card case is engraved with butterflies and tropical foliage. The monogram is MVNM(I think) and is dated June 17th 1882. The inside is lined in blue watered silk and features an appointment diary consisting of three ivory leaves endorsed Monday to Saturday. This diary is closed by inserting the sterling silver pencil through three loops(usually these pencils are lost). It was made by Hilliard and Thomason, Birmingham in 1881 and is in excellent condition other than a small stain to the silk lining. It is 100mm long, 70mm wide and 8mm thick.

This gentleman's tortoiseshell card case is inlaid with silver stringing and a small silver rectangle inset into the top of the lid to be engraved with the owners initials(currently blank). The edges of the lid and the body are lined with ivory and the interior is lined with red velvet. It measures 89mm x 59mm and is in excellent condition. It dates from around 1860.
