Pinder, Bourne & Co. hand coloured and gilded sauce tureen on stand. Item 1155
We have included this Pinder, Bourne & Co. sauce tureen on stand in the Royal Doulton page as Doulton had purchased Pinder, Bourne in 1878 and this piece is dated September 1881. This factory later became Doulton Burslem. The lid of this attractive sauce tureen and is decorated with a hand coloured scene of a boy lying in a field playing a flute, with two butterflies flying above him. The body is decorated by gilding and a printed pattern, whilst the stand has half a dozen coloured butterflies and insects. Its condition is very good, with some rubbing of the gilding, a small chip to the inside rim and a very minor chip to one handle The overall height(including the stand) is 138mm with the stand being 230mm long and 152mm wide.
