Royal Worcester plate by F.R. Rushton. Item 3133.
This Royal Worcester plate is handpainted by Frank R. Rushton and features a scene of Venice. It is signed on the back and dated 1904. The Worcester backstamp is for 1905. It has lost a little of the gilding to the rim, otherwise it is in excellent condition. The diameter is 230mm.

This Barr, Flight and Barr bowl is painted in a very spare pseudo-Chinese pattern, possibly as a replacement for an earlier piece. It is 172mm in diameter and stands 74mm high. It is impressed with the Barr, Flight and Barr mark of 1804-13. There is a small area inside the bowl where there is a faint discolouration and there are marks to the bottom of the inside where it has been used.

This Flight, Barr & Barr armorial dessert plate dates from the period 1813-40 and bears the crest of an unknown family. The motto reads "PRO LEGE ET LEGE" which translates as "For King and the law". The plate is 266mm in diameter and is in very good condition with some rubbing of the gilding to the rim and centre and a very small area where the green ground has been lost.

This Royal Worcester Sabrina ware vase is hand painted by Walter Sedgley and depicts a goose flying over bare winter trees. It stands 155mm high and is in excellent condition. The date mark is for 1914.

A very attractive Royal Worcester pot-pourri using the old Hadley shape. The body has two angular handles and stands on four curled feet. The lid is pierced to allow the scent to escape. Both the shape(187) and the painting of pink Cyclamen(pattern 65) are not that common. It stands 178mm high and is in excellent condition. It carries the date mark for 1905

This hand painted and gilded Worcester plate is decorated with the "Royal Lily" pattern. It is 195mm in diameter and is in very good condition. It dates from the period 1785-90.

This Royal Worcester dish features a central posy painted by Ernest Phillips. It measures 216mm wide, 238mm long and stands 45mm high. The date mark is for 1912 and it is in excellent condition apart from some crazing.

This very delicate hand painted "Hadley Ware" vase by Royal Worcester stands 100mm high and is in very good condition with only some slight loss of gilding to the rim to mar its appearance. Dated 1905.

This Royal Worcester figurine entitled "Bather Surprised" was modelled by Sir Thomas Brock(1847-1922) in 1875. This piece is dated 1912. It stands 400mm high and has only one small blemish-the index finger on her right hand has been repaired, but it is not noticeable.

An unusual Royal Worcester epergne vase standing 232mm high and decorated with a hand painted floral spray with extensive gilding by George Roberts who went to Hadley's factory as foreman in 1898. It is excellent condition and is dated 1895.

This Royal Worcester spill vase features an unusual hand enamelled Chinoiserie pattern and dates from 1910. It stands 227mm high and is in excellent condition with its only blemish being a few tiny scratches to the enamel on the rim.
Royal Worcester purse vase

This Royal Worcester vase is a bit unusual in that it is in the shape of a drawstring purse. The body is embossed with Japanese motifs that are highlighted by gilding and set off by the pink drawstring. It features the Worcester mark incorporating the name of the retailer, Thomas Goode and Son. It stands 152mm high and is 127mm in diameter. It has a few tiny scratches to the green ground and there is some loss of the gilding to the rim-otherwise there are no other faults. C 1880.

This Royal Worcester place card holder is a small figure of an "Infant Bacchus". This is number 5 from Royal Worcester's Class 7(Small figures,match boxes and extinguishers) and bears the date mark for 1875. It stands 75mm high and is 93mm from the front to the back. It is very good condition with some rubbing to the gilding and the colour on one arm.

This 263mm diameter Grainger Worcester dessert plate is decorated with the "Old India" pattern. It features hand colouring and gilding over a blue printed outline. It is in excellent condition apart from some light crazing and some very light rubbing of the gilding. C1814-20.

This Royal Worcester blush ivory vase is decorated with a large spray of hand coloured flowers. It stands 265mm high and is in excellent condition. It bears the date mark for 1911.

This attractive Royal Worcester cup and saucer dates from 1910 and features a hand painted dark blue border overlaid with hand gilding and hand coloured roses. The pattern number is W 6153. It is excellent condition apart from some minor loss of the gilding on the rim of both the cup and the saucer.

Standing 195mm high this very attractive Royal Worcester cupid figurine is shape number 466 from a series "Dancing Cupids"" and dates from around 1875. He stands on a rocky base and is blowing a rams horn, whist his right hand holds a sceptre. The painting of the face has been done most delicately and the whole piece is in excellent condition. "

This 1903 Royal Worcester jug stands 224mm high and decorated with a hand painted spray of poppies and ears of wheat on a blush ivory ground. There is even an insect on one of the ears of wheat! The handle and the raised prunus blossom to the top have been gilded. Its condition is very good.

This Royal Worcester footed dish was painted by James Stinton(1870-1961)in 1940 and features ducks in flight. The diameter is 110mm and it stands 38mm high. Unfortunately it is marred by some crazing but otherwise it is in very good condition.

This very detailed, hand painted Royal Worcester plate by Ray Rushton(1886-1956) is of Tewksbury in England. Rushton specialised in painting landscapes and buildings of yesteryear. This plate is in excellent condition apart from three minute paint chips. Its diameter is 272mm and is dated 1941.

Royal Worcester cabinet plate with floral display to centre painted by William Hale(?-1930) and surrounded by extensive gilding on pale yellow and mid-green grounds. Hale started at Royal Worcester in 1874 and was one of its principal artists. The diameter is 266mm and the plate is in excellent condition. It is dated 1929.

Superb Hadley Worcester pot-pourri. The body has a reticulated rim, stands on a domed four footed base and has two angular handles. The cover also features reticulated panels. This piece features hand painted roses by Mabel Lander who later moved to Royal Worcester. Height is 155mm and width is 189mm.

Royal Worcester cabinet plate with a centrepiece of fruit painted by James Skerrett(b. 1954) who joined Royal Worcester in 1969 and specialises in limited editions and fruit. The centrepiece is surrounded by extensive gilding on a red ground and dates from the late 1970's. It is in excellent condition.
Grainger Worcester sweet set
Grainger Worcester hand painted sweet set. Item 2074
This hand painted and gilded eight piece sweet set by Grainger Worcester comprises two tazzas and six plates. The pattern number is 3358. The painting of roses in pastel colours could possibly be by George Cole(1863-1912) who used to paint flowers with only one firing involved. He transferred to Royal Worcester in 1902. The diameter of the plates is 220mm. The oval tazza is 280mm long, 215mm wide and 40mm high. The kidney shaped tazza(pictured) is 243mm long, 220mm wide and 40mm high. There is some heavy rubbing to the gilding on the tazzas and some slight rubbing of the ground but no other damage. Plate 1 has some slight rubbing of the gilding and a very small crack to the footrim. Plate 2 has a very small chip to the edge. Plate 3 has some slight rubbing to the gilding, as has Plate 4 with a chip to the footrim as well. Plate 5 has a very small chip to the edge and some slight rubbing of the gilding. Plate 6 is in very good condition. Overall any damage to this set is of a very minor nature. The date mark is for 1893.

This Royal Worcester plate features a central painting of roses by Miss Michelin Miller (who had been apprenticed to Kitty Blake) surrounded by a crimson and gilded border. It is in very good condition with two small glaze faults on the edge of the plate and two small scratches to the border. It is 279mm in diameter and dates from 1953.
