Ashworth’s Ironstone plate pattern 3/792. Item 3730.
This Ashworth’s Ironstone plate is decorated with their hand coloured and gilded pattern 3/792 done using the Imari palette of underglaze blue, iron red and gold. Floating above a flower laden gnarled tree stump is a butterfly, and around the rim are flowers interspersed with stylised pink flowers. The diameter of the plate is 260 mm (10.25 inches) and it stands 32 mm (1.25 inches) high. Overall the condition is very good, but there has been some very, very slight loss of colour and gilding on the high points. It dates from around 1865.
