Australian Art Deco cylindrical revolving cupboard. Item 4325.This very striking Australian made Art Deco cylindrical revolving cupboard presents a couple of conundrums-what was it used for and who made it. It stands 710 mm high, has a diameter of 597 mm and is veneered with walnut. Internally there is a rotating drum that opens to reveal three storage areas. The doors are decorated with two strips of chromed metal, and the edges of the shelves are similarly done. There is a removable glass top to protect the veneer and the internal shelves are lined with replacement felt. Most probably it is a side table with storage for books or games. As to who made it, I haven’t been able to attribute it to any manufacturer. On the base there is a remnant of a paper label in the shape of Australia, with the last two letters – ry – of a name or word. This piece is in good original condition. C 1935.
