Brass candlestick with blue and white insert. Item 4541.This good quality cast brass candlestick features a blue and white ceramic insert in the stem. The insert is decorated with a blue and white prunus pattern. It stands 133 mm (5.25 inches) high and the intricately cast base measures 114 mm (4.5 inches) square. It is possible that this candlestick was originally part of a desk set, comprising two candlesticks and an inkstand. On the underside of the base is an impressed letter M and a British Design Registraion lozenge. Unfortunately the details on the lozenge are illegible. The candlestick is a product of the English Arts and Crafts movement and would date from around 1880. It is in very good condition.
