Product Description

Brass toasting fork decorated with Lincoln Imp. Item 4571.This decorative brass toasting fork is decorated with the Lincoln Imp where the rod joins the tines. It carries the registration number 669456 which indicates that this design was registered in 1919, and would probably have been a souvenir of Lincoln or Lincoln Cathedral. It measures 483 mm (19 inches) in length, and is in very good condition.

The Lincoln Imp is a carved grotesque on a wall inside Lincoln Cathedral, and is now a symbol of the Cathedral and of the city of Lincoln. Legend has it that the Imp was sent to Lincoln by the devil to create havoc, but was turned into stone by an angel.
