Copeland blue and white low comport

Copeland blue and white low comport. Item 4334.A Copeland low comport decorated with a central blue and white printed pattern of a spray of roses, surrounded by a floral border. The floral border is repeated on the foot. It has a diameter of 237 mm (9.5 inches) and it stands 54 mm (2.25 inches) high. There are no chips or cracks, but there are a large number of tiny faults in the glaze, as dust from the kiln has settled on the glaze and a couple of wrinkles in the pattern when it was applied. These imperfections are only noticeable under angled light. The base is impressed with the maker’s mark Copeland, and it dates from the 1860’s.
