Doulton Burslem hand painted footed bowl. Item 2196.

This shallow, square Doulton Burslem bowl has a centrepiece of hand painted flowers while the border is composed of raised cream arabesques, a painted border of blue and and an intricate gilt border. The piece rests on four gilded feet. It carries the pattern number HB2731, which indicates that the designer was Herbert Betteley, a painter and designer at Doulton Burslem from 1886-1930. It also carries Doulton’s pattern number C 7642, which indicates this pattern was first introduced in 1896. The condition is very good but there is some rubbing to the gilding on the rim. Its impressed date stamp is for June 1900. It is 208 mm (8.25 inches) square and stands 50 mm (2 inches) high.
