Eichwald Secessionist majolica tazza or comport. Item 4416.This Eichwald Secessionist majolica tazza or comport was made by the Bloch Co of Bohemia, once part of Germany, now in the Czech Republic. The decoration is in the Secessionist style of the Art Nouveau movement. The body is covered with a green majolica glaze with the roses picked out in pink and a lighter green, and other highlights in light green and magenta. It stands 137 mm high (5.5 inches), measures 350 mm (13.75 inches) in length and 255 mm (10 inches) in depth. The condition is very good, with no chips or cracks, however there are some glaze faults where small pieces of grit from the kiln have settled on the top during the last firing. These can be seen in the photo below. The base is impressed with the brand Eichwald and the shape number 2013. These marks are hard to read as they have been filled in with the glaze, but if you shine a light across them at a low angle they become legible. C1910.
