Etching by Frank Brangwyn The Storm No 2. Item 4700.At the bottom left of this etching by Frank Brangwyn (1867-1956) is the title, written in pencil, ” The Storm No 2″.  It is also known as the “Hay Harvesters”. On the bottom right is the pencil signature Frank Brangwyn RA. The centre of the scene is dominated by two large trees, immediately in front of a group of men putting the finishing touches to a hayrick, or haystack. In the background is the gathering storm. Brangwyn was a prolific artist across a number of diverse mediums, and was admitted as a full member to the Royal Academy in 1919. He was knighted in 1941. In its original frame, this etching does have some very faint foxing, but it is not particularly noticeable.The frame measures 355 mm (14 inches) high and 293 mm (11.5 inches) wide. The etching itself measures 138 mm (5.5 inches) wide and 114 mm (4.5 inches) high. It would date from the mid 1920’s.
