This three piece majolica strawberry set by George Jones features an oval tray with open rings at the ends which hold a small pot of sugar and one of cream. The centre is decorated with a trompe l’oeil effect of a folded napkin scattered with strawberry leaves. The strawberry theme is continued with a frieze of leaves around each pot. On the base is an applied pad mark for George Jones, Stoke-on-Trent and the painted number 2243 which is the pattern number. It measures 370 mm (14.5 inches) in length and 230 mm (9 inches) in width. The condition is very good but it does have a small chip to the base of the cream pot and a small repair to the underside of the lip of the sugar pot. There is also some faint crazing to the sugar pot. C1875.
