Georgian copper and brass hot water urn. Item 3924.This Georgian copper and brass hot water urn stands 415 mm to the top of the lid, is 285 mm wide and the depth is 305 mm from the back to the end of the brass spout. This hot water urn would have sat on a sideboard of a well-to-do family home where the family and their guests could replenish their tea or coffee. Originally there would have been a spirit burner below the body to keep the water hot, but unfortunately this has long gone, to be replaced with a cast brass sphinx to cover up the hole. It has had a life over the last 200 years, but it is now a very decorative item to be displayed on a sideboard or in the kitchen. A rub over with a silver cloth every now and then will keep it looking its best. C 1800.
