Gilt brass pill box with micro mosaic lid. Item 4566.This good quality gilt brass oval pill box features a micro mosaic lid decorated with a very colourful floral display. The individual glass tesserae that form the flowers are 3 to 6 mm in size (1/8th to 1/4 of an inch), and have been applied by hand. The oval body is decorated with a repeating palmette design. The length is 50 mm (2 inches), the width 35 mm (1.5 inches) and it stands 18 mm (.75 inches) high. It is in very good condition with only some very slight wear to the gilding to detract from it. Probably Italian, it would date from the middle part of the 20th century.
