Glazed pottery wall plaque after Clodion. Item 3152.
This late nineteenth century glazed pottery wall plaque has been made in the style of Claude Michel (1738-1814), known as Clodion, a French sculptor in the Rococo style. The raised decoration is of a female satyr and a young male satyr seated on a rocky outcrop. It is glazed in a slightly irridescent turquoise glaze and marked with the name Clodion impressed into the front. It is 290mm in diameter and is in good condition-it does have some small chips to the rim.
