Glazed pottery wall plaque after Clodion. Item 3152.
This late nineteenth century glazed pottery wall plaque has been made in the style of Claude Michel (1738-1814), known as Clodion, a French sculptor in the Rococo style. The raised decoration is of a female satyr and a young male satyr seated on a rocky outcrop. It is glazed in a slightly irridescent turquoise glaze and marked with the name Clodion impressed into the front. It is 290 mm, or 11.5 inches in diameter and is in good condition, but it does have some small chips to the rim.
