Guy Boyd painted dish. Item 3272.This Guy Boyd dish is decorated with a hand painted spray of Australian wildflowers on a pink ground. The sgraffito technique has been used by the artist to give a textural quality to the painting. The petals of the daisy have been formed by the artist scraping away the pink ground to reveal the white of the body. So too the partially coloured Desert Pea and the coloured wattle. The artist’s initials are EH. The dish has a diameter of 118 mm, and stands 34 mm high. There are 4 very minor nicks to the rim, otherwise it is in very good condition. c 1960.
