Large hand painted French porcelain platter. Item 3988.
This large, very decorative hand painted French porcelain platter, or charger, features a Golden Pheasant to the centre, which is framed by a bower of purple flowers that extends to the rim in three directions, and where brightly coloured butterflies complete the scene. It could be displayed on a stand, on a wall or in the middle of a table as a decorative piece, or used as a fruit bowl. It has a diameter of 342 mm (13.5 inches) and stands 48 mm (2 inches) high. It is in very good condition. It is unmarked except for an incised workman’s mark. It would date from around 1900.
