Large Hoffman Melbourne Centenary jug. Item 4676.
This Hoffman jug is the larger of the two issued in 1934 to commemmorate the centenary of the founding of Melbourne. It features raised profiles of John Batman and John Pascoe Fawkner below a banner “Melbourne Centenary 1934” and the quotation “This is the spot for a village” (which differs from the smaller jug). It stands 168 mm high and it is in excellent condition apart from two small chips to the lip, one under the glaze, ex-factory.
