This large W T Copeland boat shaped, lidded soup tureen on stand, is decorated with a hand coloured printed pattern featuring climbing plants, flowers, hummingbirds and butterflies. Fittingly the name given to this shape of dinnerware is Venice, with the shape (Rd 143192) being registered on the 31st of January 1890. The pattern number is 2/3266 and the impressed date mark is for 1890. The overall height is 275 mm (10.75 inches), the depth 256 mm (10 inches) and the width 430 mm (17 inches)-quite an impressive piece. There are two small chips to the underside of one of the stand’s handles and two smaller ones to the edge of the stand. There is also some crazing, and, as usually happens, the ladle has gone missing. Overall the condition is very good.
