Minton Persian bottle vase on Oriental base. Item 4148.
This earthernware Minton vase is described in the shape book as “1472 Bottle Persian Ring Handles on Oriental Base”, and whilst it displays diverse Persian and Chinese characteristics it comes together as an attractive whole. The shape was designed in 1868 or 1869 and this one bears the Minton date mark for 1870. This vase shape was also used by Minton as a vehicle for pate-sur-pate patterns, as well as designs by Dr. Christopher Dresser. It stands 260mm high, is 255mm wide and has a depth of 80mm. It is in excellent condition, apart from some crazing, which actually tends to add to its beauty. The actual colour is slightly darker than shown in the photos.
