Description

Samson of Paris mock Chinese export ware armorial plate. Item 3928.

This mock Chinese export ware armorial plate was made by Samson of Paris in the period 1890-1910. It is decorated to the centre with, what purports to be, the armorial, or family crest, of the Boyd family, using the Boyd families’ motto “Confido”. This is surrounded with hand painted flowers and raised slip decoration. It is unmarked, but examples are shown in plates 54-7 of “Godden’s Guide to European Porcelain”. It measures 234 mm (9.25 inches) in diameter. The condition is very good.
