Samuel Alcock porcelain Christmas plate. Item 3004.
This hand coloured plate by Samuel Alcock and Co is decorated with a Christmas pattern designed by the English author, illustrator and artist, Alfred Henry Forrester (1804-1872) using the pseudonym Alfred Crowquill. The message reads “A Merry Christmas To You” with the letters set in individual compartments surrounded with holly leaves and berries. The diameter is 231mm and its condition is excellent apart from some minor loss of gilding and a small flaw on the rim ex-factory. C1851
