Shelley cup saucer & plate Old Mill pattern 13669. Item 1957.The Old Mill pattern (pattern 136690) decorates this Shelley cup saucer & plate set. It is a lovely scene fron rural England of an old water mill beside a river. The edges are done in gold with the handle in pale blue. It appears this might be the first pattern on the New Cambridge shape, as a sketch of the cup is shown for the first time in the pattern book. The New Cambridge shape differs from the Cambridge shape in the form of the handle, and first appeared in 1954, so this set would date from around that date. The set is in good condition, but it does have the tiniest bit of wear to the gilding on the cup.
