Description
Silver box with hinged lid. Item 4191.This silver box with hinged lid is decorated with three bands of finely incised lines and a roundel to the lid which contains the initials LT. It weighs 129 gms and carries a makers stamp SCK. The width is 115 mm (4.5 inches), the height 38 mm (1 3/8 inches) and the depth 42 mm (1.5 inches). Because of the precise Imperial measurements, I would presume that it was made in a British colony. Stylistically, the decoration would date it to the 1880’s or 90’s. There was a jeweller named Siegfried Kohn who was working in Wellington, New Zealand around that time, who could be a possible maker.
