Souvenir carved pen with Stanhope – Weymouth. Item 3178.
This dip pen and paper knife combination is a souvenir of Weymouth, a seaside town in Dorset, England, and features a carved and pierced central section which contains a Stanhope showing scenes of Weymouth. A Stanhope is a small optical device showing microphotographs when held up to the light. The paper knife or letter opener, is decorated with a transfer print of fruit and the inscription “A Present from Weymouth”. It measures 195 mm (7.75 inches) in length. C1890.
