This sterling silver card case was made by George Unite, Birmingham in 1899. The outside is heavily engraved with foliate scroll work and the central cartouche contains the initials ADC. The interior is fitted with leather and includes two compartments for calling cards, another for coins or stamps and a small ivory leaf for making notes with the silver pencil. The pencil is usually the first thing lost, so to have retained it makes this case rather special. The length is 82 mm, the width is 47 mm and it is 10 mm thick. It is in excellent condition.
