Sterling silver teaspoon by Peter and Ann Bateman London 1798. Item 4251.This very dainty sterling silver teaspoon was made by Peter and Ann Bateman in London in 1798. The length is 134mm and it weighs 16 gms. It carries an engraved monogram of “EI”. Peter Bateman was the son of the well known silversmith Hester Bateman. Peter and his brother Jonathon had a short lived partnership, which ended when Jonathon died in 1791. Peter then went into partnership with Jonathon’s widow Ann, which continued until Ann retired in 1805. The spoon is in very good condition.
