This small tortoiseshell card case dates from the early part of the nineteenth century. The hinge is brass, as is the thumbpiece, and the securing catch is steel. There are strips of ivory between the opening surfaces. It is 63mm long, 37mm wide and 15mm thick. Most of the red velvet lining is missing and there are three small areas where the shell is missing. There is also a smallish area where the surface of the shell has been damaged.
