Wileman Japan Black plate. Item 1962.
This Wileman hand coloured and gilded plate is decorated with the Japan Black pattern on the Albert shape. It measures 180 mm diameter and dates fron 1886-90. Its condition is very good with some rubbing of the gilding, particularly around the edge of the plate. There is also a small glaze defect on the back, that at first glance, appears to be a chip, but it is frit from the kiln. Please note that, although it is a very similar pattern to Item 1963, this piece does not carry a pattern number.
