William Ridgway jug “Helical” pattern. Item 3263.

This earthenware creamer is by William Ridgway and is decorated with the “Helical” pattern. It stands 125 mm (5 inches) to the top of the handle. It is unmarked, but corresponds to plate 923 in Michael Berthoud’s “A Cabinet of British Creamers”, and the pattern corresponds to that shown in plate 177 of Geoffrey Godden’s “Ridgway Porcelains”. There are some areas of discolouration and a star shaped crack which is just visible in the photo, just below the second flower to the left of the handle. C1840.
