Description

Copeland & Garrett hand painted bowl pattern 5726. Item 3271.

This Copeland & Garrett hand painted bowl features a central scene of Loch Achray by the Copeland and Garret artist/gilder Mansfield, which is surrounded by an apple green ground. Mansfield was at Copeland and Garrett from around 1849 to 1860. The four raised decorative mouldings to the rim have been gilded. The pattern number is 5726 and is recorded in the Special Order reference books in the Spode archives. The bowl is probably from a dessert or fruit set and rests on four feet which forms part of a moulded decorative frieze to the underside which has been gilded. It stands 66 mm (2 5/8ths inches) high, measures 310 mm (12.25 inches) in width and is 215 mm (8.5 inches) deep. There are a few minor scratches, mainly to the green ground, otherwise it is in excellent condition. C1850.
