Description

Miniature copper kettle Salesman’s sample. Item 4580.This miniature copper kettle was probably a salesman’s sample, which would be far easier to carry around than a proper sized one. The body is copper, the knob for the lid is brass, as are the handle supports, which carry the turned and ebonised wooden handle. The inside of the body is tinned, as the inside of the full size pot would have been. It stands 85 mm (3 3/8ths inches) high, the body has a diameter of 76 mm (3 inches), and it weighs 69 gms (2.5 ounces). It is a bit battered, no doubt having been used as a child’s toy over the years, but it is intact, and a rare survivor. It would probably date from around 1880.
