Porcelain replica of Lalique’s Ceylan vase. Item 3418.
Someone, somewhere, at some stage has taken a plaster mould of a Rene Lalique glass vase entitled “Ceylan”, and produced a slipcast replica in porcelain. Incised on the base are the words “Test” and “Patched hole”. It is a very good replica which shows most of the fine details of the original glass vase. The original glass vases stand around 240mm high, whereas this one stands 212mm high. When fired in the kiln all ceramics shrink slightly as the moisture is drawn from the piece, so this one will be narrower as well. It is in excellent condition, and with the glass originals fetching many thousands of dollars, this is very inexpensive
