Ridgway hand coloured and gilded milk jug and bowl pattern 5/346. Item 3551.

This very attractive Ridgway milk jug and slop bowl has been hand coloured and gilded with pattern 5/346 on the Savoy shape from their range of teaware. It is unmarked but corresponds to plate 143, page 128 of Geoffrey Goddens’ “Ridgway Porcelains” 1985. The bowl measures 180 mm (7 inches) in diameter and stands 87 mm (3.5 inches) high, with the jug standing 116 mm (4.5 inches) to the top of the handle. Both pieces are in extremely good condition with only some very, very minor scratches to the maroon ground. The colours and gilding are still bright and the whole piece is enlivened by the floral sprays to the centre. C 1850.
