Sterling silver decanter label from the Carriers Arms Hotel in Townsville. Item 4886.This small sterling silver decanter label is engraved “T F Short. Carriers Arms Hotel. Townsville”. On the back it is stamped STR.SIL and I presume it would have been made in Townsville. It is 36 mm wide and 25 mm high. The Carriers Arms hotel in Townsville was built in 1872, survived several cyclones and a fire, but was demolished in 1966. Theo Short’s in-laws, the Foleys, were the licensees of the Carriers Arms from around 1942 until around 1951, so it would date from that period.
