Description

First period Worcester hand painted bowl Mansfield pattern. Item 4867.This first period Worcester bowl is decorated with the hand painted blue and white “Mansfield” pattern with a hand painted border (refer border pattern No 29, page 409 “Worcester Blue and White Porcelain”, Branyan, French and Sandon.). It measures 100 mm (4 inches) in diameter and stands 50 mm (2 inches) high, which makes it slightly larger than the teabowls of the time. There are some very tiny chips to the bottom of the footrim, but overall it is in very good condition. The base is marked with a workman’s painted mark. It would date from around 1770.
