Royal Worcester hand painted dish by James Stinton. Item 2406.

This Royal Worcester footed dish was painted by James Stinton (1870-1961) and features a pair of ducks in flight. The son of John Stinton senior, James Stinton was a member of the famed Stinton family of porcelain painters whose history dated back to 1805, and was a fine painter of grouse, pheasants and other game birds. He arrived at Royal Worcester in 1902 after the takeover of the Grainger factory of Worcester, and stayed there until he retired in 1951. The diameter of this dish 110 mm (4 3/8ths inches) and it stands 38 mm (1.5 inches) high.  It does have some crazing but otherwise it is in very good condition. It carries the date mark for 1940.
