Description

Porcelain flask vase with applied violets. Item 4908.This very pretty porcelain flask vase features a central circular spray of applied violets and leaves to both sides. The spray is enclosed in a hand painted, turquoise coloured ring of bamboo. This applied decoration is then repeated on each shoulder, surrounding the bamboo shaped handles, again in turquoise. It stands on four feet which are decorated with a hand painted linear design on a turquoise ground. The neck is done in the same style. It stands 195 mm (7.75 inches) high, has a diameter of 172 mm (6.75 inches) and is 90 mm (3.5 inches) deep. It could be by either Charles Ford or Thomas Ford, both of Hanley in Staffordshire. As you would expect the has been some loss of the violet’s petals. It would date from around 1875.
