Description
Dutch hand painted delft tile. Item 4852.Enclosed in a circle and painted in purple or puce, the central decoration of this Dutch hand painted delft tile features a ship moored next to a fortified building where two men are using a pulley to unload some cargo. Possibly from Haarlem, the tile measures 125 mm (just under 5 inches) square and is 8 mm (approx. 5/16ths of an inch) thick. Unfortunately it has lost the bottom left hand corner. It dates from the period 1650-70.
